Advanced Sky Replacements in After Effects

This multi-chapter video guide is me, finally putting down on video, my go-to workflow for Sky Replacements. Despite issues of colour management, After Effects remains my default tool for this effect. Chiefly, due to its interaction with Photoshop, but also due to the custom blending modes inherent to After Effects. 

This technique exploits the notion of Pre-Comping to effectively work in a methodical procedure, that allows for a fairly non-destructive and adaptable workflow

The 1080p footage was shot with a Canon DSLR in a MPEG, Lossy format (hence the macroblocking and chroma subsampling artefacts in the footage) but then converted to a ProResHQ intermediate video proxy ready for download and VFX work.
